Since I had a few spare minutes, I stopped at the Copley Nature Park to see "who" was there. I was stunned to see five American white pelicans (they are so easy to identify!) in the water. Also saw one flying with the black wing tips. Thank you for the wonderful telescope. My husband went that afternoon prepared with binoculars, cameras, etc., but they had apparently left. This is a case of being in the right place at the right time!!!!!
First Eastern Phoebe in our yard yesterday near Goose Lake Prairie.

Note from webmaster: Thanks John. Seems to have been a good winter for spotting eagles in the local area.
From Roger S:
I had a Peregrine Falcon eating a bird in my yard 1/20/10.
I know they are not supposed to be here in winter. I live in Camelot Subdivision - SW corner of I55 and I80. Woods and open fields. I have seen one here several times in the past from Feb. to early spring. It took off just as I got back to the window with my camera. I hope to see it again with the camera ready.
