Carol Cooley reports the following sightings on Mon Oct 8:
This was an awesome day!!! All week my backyard
feeders have been buzzing....today I was off school
and was standing in my backyard, when all of a sudden
I heard this wall of sound coming in.....a flock of 5
or 6 Red-breasted Nuthatches landed on the neighbor's
6 foot chain link fence. They were not too sure
about me, and moved to a leafy area. I wanted them to
come to my feeder, so I went in as soon as I got done.
By about an hour later, they were coming to my
feeders, in and out from the leafy vines!! Also saw a
couple tiny humminigbirds, and I am not sure if they
are the ones we had all summer or migrants enroute;
finally near the end of the light came a Red-bellied
Woodpecker, right on the sunflower feeder, big as
life!!!
