Bald Eagle

Eagles by the nest on Essex RD.
One was flying carrying a branch to the nest. One was sitting at tree top.
Also on Essex Road was a Red Tail.

Snow Goose


Sighting by Ruth Meyer on Feb 18

Location:Morris, IL near Heidecke Lake

1 Snow goose in the middle of 1000+ Canada Geese about 1:30pm at northeast
corner of Dresden & Lorenzo Rd.

Wild Turkeys

Location:South of Marseilles over river, heading to Seneca, IL

Date Feb 15, 2008
We were on country road midway between towns and had the most Wild Turkeys I
have ever seen. The count was over 100!

Gyrfalcon??

We think we saw a Gyrfalcon but we are not sure. It looked like the perigrine
that hangs around our bird feeders but it had a white speckled breast and a
gray back.

Red-shouldered Hawk and more at Starved Rock State Park


Reported by Fran Phillips on Sunday Feb 3, 2008:

Red-shouldered hawk feeding at the Visitors Center bird feeder,  Also present
were Downy and red bellied woodpeckers, cardinals, pine sikins, white crowned
sparrows, Tufted Titmouse, Nuthatches, cowbirds and many more.
Four Eagles were visible on Plum Island.
