Rose-breasted Grosbeak

A rose-breasted grosbeak showed up at my feeders today.

Orchard Oriole


We had an Orchard Oriole at our oriole feeder this morning around 6:30AM! A backyard first for us.

Blue-gray Gnatcatchers and more


Took a short walk on the I & M canal trail this morning in Gebhard Woods in Morris, IL. Several Blue-gray Gnatcatchers were seen as well as E. Phoebe, Brown Thrasher, and Tufted Titmouse.

Back at home I had our first Eastern Towhee in the yard. Also, Barn Swallows as of last Thursday.

Nesting Sharp Shinned Hawk

Location: Naperville - backyard

4/14/08 - ongoing
Have sharp-shinned hawks mating/nesting in our back yard pine and oak tree.
We have been seen them for several consecutive days. We are hoping they are
nesting and sticking around!
