Lincoln Marsh & Cantigny, Wheaton area. We will check out Lincoln Marsh and then on to Cantigny, which is part of the McCormick Museum. The will be a charge to enter and we may have lunch there.

Depart – 7:00 AM from Macy’s north side parking lot I-55 & Rt. 30. Return around 1:00 PM.

Lower Rock Run, I&M Canal, south of I-80 off Houbolt Rd (Empress Rd).

We will get together 6:30 PM to eat and hike about 1 hour before most preserves close at 8:00 PM

We will gather about 8:00AM and eat at 8:30(new time) and then do bird hike at WCAS members homestead, ending about noon.

We will get together at 6:30 PM to eat and then hike part of Joliet Archery Club trail, 3700 Frances Rd, Joliet, IL, for about 1 hour, ending at 8:00PM.

McDowell Grove FP, part of DuPage Co FPD, near Naperville, IL 422 acres preserve has numerous migrants filtering through the woods.

Nelson Lake Marsh NP, Kane Co FPD, near Batavia, IL. The wetlands are unlike any other in the country, open water, fens and marshes, along with wooded uplands, great place to bird.

Depart7:00 AM- return about 1:00 PM from Macy’s parking lot north side, 3340 Mall loop Dr. Joliet, I-55 & Rte 30. This hike is also weekend of the IAS gathering at Ballard NC, Altamont, IL.

McGinnis Slough FP, Orland Park, IL and surrounding Palos sloughs, great areas for ducks. We may stop by the new Little Red Schoolhouse NC.

Depart 7:30 AM- return about 1:00 PM from the Bird Haven Greenhouse, 225 N. Gougar Rd & Rte 30 Joliet. Next year look forward to return trip back to Indiana’s Jasper-Pulaski Wildlife Area to look for sandhill cranes, our every other year trip.



December field trip is the Christmas bird count. Date will be posted web site or call.

Peggy Notebaert NC, Chicago.  You might think it is spring with the butterfly garden, lots of butterflies around you. We can stop at Lake Front first to look for ducks and might take walk to Lincoln Park Conservancy.  PNNC has a charge to enter about $9.00.

Depart 8:00 AM- return about 3:00 PM from Macy’s parking lot north side, 3340 Mall Loop Dr. Joliet, I-55 & Rte. 30. Next year look forward to Fulton,Il L&D #13 for eagles, our every other year trip.

Gull Frolic, Winthrop Harbor Yacht Club. Lots of great gulls and duck watching. A small fee includes lunch & program. Dress warmly, but lots of room for inside viewing.

McKee Marsh-Blackwell FP, DuPage Co FP, near Winfield, IL. This area has pond, cattail marsh surrounded by open fields and woods.  This area also parallels the west branch of DuPage River.

Depart 7:30 AM- return about 1:00 PM from Macy’s parking lot north side, 3340 Mall Loop Dr. Joliet, IL, I-55 & Rte. 30.

Pratt’s Wayne Woods/Tri. Co Wetlands, DuPage Co FP, near Bartlett, with 3,385 acres. We might see Yellow-headed Blackbird, along with ducks, shorebirds and herons. We will first stop at Tri co wetland to check out their rockery, small area but I have seen heron, egrets and Yellow-head blackbirds in this area.
